With their participation in the match against Santos Laguna this Sunday at Estadio TSM, as part of Matchweek 2 of Liga MX Guard1anes 2020, Sebastian Martinez and Zahid Muñoz became the 340th and player 341st players to make their debut in the Mexican Professional Soccer League in the history of Guadalajara.
These youngsters, both 19 years old, are the sixth and seventh players to make their debut with Chivas in the first division against Santos. Before them were Armando Gonzalez (1988-89 Season), Jorge Garcia (2001 Verano), Edgar Solis (2005 Apertura), Miguel Basulto (2013 Clausura), and Diego Hernandez (2018 Apertura). Of those 5, 3 made their debut in Torreon, while Armando Gonzalez and Diego Hernandez did so in Guadalajara.
Of the 341 players who have made their debut with el Rebaño Sagrado, 265 were formed in the #CanteraRojiblanca. Before the 1960s, most players did not go through the Youth Academy process but moved directly from amateur league play to pro via the club.
It is noteworthy to point out that a total of 554 players have played with el Chiverio in Mexico's Top Flight Division, of which 341 made their debut with Guadalajara, while 213 came from another team.
