From minute one, Chivas got behind the driver seat with total ball control and hard pressure on Pumas’ defensive line and even though Pumas scored first, El Rebaño display a solid mindset and managed to fight back.
In minute 2, Hiram Mier got the first chance for El Guadalajara when he unleashed a solid header that went off-target, then in the 6th minute, Alexis Vega rifled a violent shot from outside the box very wide though.
Despite Chivas’ good start, Pumas went in front as Torres caught a loose ball and shot past Gudiño in minute 13. El Chiverío withstood and remained calm, aware of their superiority, which became evident as time passed by. In minute 24, Antonio Briseño released a close-distance header way above the crossbar.
Hard work paid off in the 27th minute when José Juan Macías tied the game as he was brilliantly assisted by Antuna to calmly and softly shot past González. Ten minutes later, Macías delivered a gorgeous ball to Mayorga who found the back of the net thanks to an accurate left-footed shot.
During the second half, El Rebaño handled things with intelligence and patience which ultimately meant 3 points at home ground.
In minute 51, Raúl Gudiño performed a superb save and confirmed why he just received a contract extension with Chivas. Then in minute 67 ‘Lalo’ Torres fired a shot from a very long distance, but the ball was caught by González.
It will be a packed week for Chivas with two away games in a row, first Querétaro next Wednesday 3rd, and then Mazatlán next Saturday 6th as part of Matchweek 9 & 10, respectively.
