Alliance between Chivas and PSV Eindhoven is born

26/01/2022 09:00 / Club Deportivo Guadalajara

One of the global missions of Club Deportivo Guadalajara is to always strive to be at the forefront, in both the sporting and branding fields, making it essential to create ties with institutions of international renown and prestige, and what better than to establish a direct link with another Red and White club, in this case PSV Eindhoven.

Starting today and throughout the next two years, the Rebaño Sagrado and the Boeren or Farmers, as they are popularly known, will work hand in hand seeking mutual development, sharing practices for the growth of their talent on and off the pitch at a number of levels, as well as in commercial work.

In order to give formality to the agreement, the clubs organized a virtual meeting, hosted by Joost de Wit, Head of international partnerships for PSV Eindhoven, and attended by Amaury Vergara, Chivas’ President and Owner; Ricardo Pelaez, Sporting Director for Chivas; Mariano Varela, Chivas’ Sports Delegate, and Marcelo Michel, Chivas’ Pro-Division Head Coach, while Toon Gerbrands, PSV General Manager, and Ernest Faber, PSV Director of the youth divisions, along with the legal representatives of both parties, intervened on behalf of the Dutch.

Among the joint activities to be carried out both in Mexico and the United States will be the exchange of players and coaches at formative levels, so it will be sought as an international experience for both parties.

Both clubs will strengthen each other in the sports area by playing together at tournaments, sharing facilities during training camps and playing friendly games between the senior and youth teams. PSV and Chivas will get access to each other’s academies and business knowledge so that both clubs will be able to improve in both segments. On top of that, PSV and Chivas will also launch social and community programmes.

It is worth mentioning that PSV will have preference in the signing of Chivas players and the Rebaño will be fully involved in the transfer process in the event that one of its players is sold to a third party.

“Internationalisation plays a key role in our mission and vision, which has resulted into this collaboration. We want to put PSV worldwide on the map. Chivas is a club of real stature and enjoys a great popularity with a very large fanbase of over 40 million fans in Mexico and the United States of America. We are convinced that we can pursue a greater potential by means of this collaboration”, said PSV’s General Manager, Toon Gerbrands.

“We are very excited about this partnership. Chivas is in a very important process of evolution, we’ve been working very hard during the last 2 years trying to accomplish a new organization, objectives and also new vision of how we want to collaborate with different clubs around the world. For us, having this collaboration in the begging of this Chivas’ new era, specially being PSV, a very traditional and unique club, ‘the most Mexican team in Europe’, is very important. We want to work with clubs that we feel that we are related, with shared strong values and that want to build based on that for a better future for both parties, with a great opportunity to grow equally, as we know it will be from now on with PSV”, said Chivas’ President and Owner, Amaury Vergara.
