Chivas' victory slips away in Querétaro

27/07/2022 21:16 / Omar González

Querétaro - It was the opportunity to get the first win in the Apertura 2022. On two occasions Guadalajara were ahead on the scoreboard, but did not consummate their performance at La Corregidora and drew 2-2 with Gallos, with some trouble at the end, in their Matchday 6 duel.

The first half of the match was dynamic, with promising plays from the the get go, el Rebaño being the team that was the first to give warning as at 4' in a quick combination that ended with a shot from the side by 'Tepa' González, whereas Fernando Beltrán tried to take advantage of the wet field conditions with a couple of mid-range shots, one of which hit the base of the post, but Antonio Rodríguez blocked the shot.

After these approaches, Chivas opened the scoreboard at 26' with Sebastián Pérez Bouquet's first goal in the maximum circuit, when, on a counterattack, Alexis Vega passed the ball to the red and white youngster, who coolly cut away from a defender in the area and then scored with a left-footed shot. Unfortunately, the Tapatío team weren't able to reach halftime with the lead, Querétaro equalized in stoppage time, in a play in which Gabriel Rojas broke free on the left flank and put the ball into the box, where Ariel Nahuelpan finished with a header to beat Miguel Jiménez.

In the second half, match action was more balanced, a situation that led both coaches to look for alternatives among their substitutes, so Ricardo Cadena strengthened the attack with the entry of Roberto Alvarado and Santiago Ormeño, who made his official debut with Guadalajara and came close to scoring his first goal, when, at 75', Alexis Vega left him a ball in front of the goal, but his shot rebounded off a defender.

Three minutes later, the Chiverío found the opportunity to take the lead again, when Pavel Pérez was brought down inside the area and the referee pointed to the penalty, which Vega scored with a right-footed shot; however, the red and white team let the lead slip away in a VAR reviewed play in which the referee marked a foul off a jersey tug by Ormeño in the small box. Mario Osuna capitalized on the penalty at 89'. In the end, Miguel Jiménez was key to maintaining the tie with a save on a flashy shot by Ettsón Ayón. El Rebaño will play next Saturday, July 30 at home against Pachuca.
