The ball refused to go in and Chivas drew with Pachuca

30/07/2022 23:30 / Javier Quezada

Despite generating many scoring opportunities, the ball simply refused to go in. Chivas showed signs of promising futbol and the desire to win, but a lack of accuracy in front of the opponent's goal prevented them from earning the three points and ended up drawing against the Tuzos, in the match of Day 6 of the Apertura 2022.

Mindful of the urgency of picking up 3 points, Chiverío had a number of dangerous opportunities in the first few minutes. At 5', Sebastián Pérez Bouquet took advantage of a corner kick, but his header lacked the power needed to find the net. At 13', 'Tiba' Sepúlveda intercepted and was assisted by 'Nene' Beltrán, who passed it back. Tiba then put in a filtered pass to Alvarado with went wide. Two minutes later, 'Tiba' again sent a long all ball which 'Piojo' controlled inside the box and then shot, but Ustari blocked with feline reflexes. At 18', 'Charal' was assisted by Bouquet which left Cisneros with a chance for a right-footed cross from the edge of the box, but his effort went centimeters wide.

The visitors responded via Murillo at 22', but fortunately his powerful header made it across the area without finding a teammate. At minute 31, 'Nene' sent Mozo down the flank, who sent a cross to the heart of the area, but the defense managed to deflect the ball away just before Vega could get on the end of it. At 38', 'Wacho' deflected a powerful shot with both hands from the right flank by Luis Chávez, who closed violently. Three minutes later, Isais sent a cross that Guzmán headed into the hands of 'Wacho'. The visitors were down a man just before the break, as Murillo was shown the red card for a tackle on Pérez Bouquet.

As soon as the match resumed, Alexis insisted on trying to open the scoreboard, but his right-footed shot went wide of the goalkeeper's goal. At 56', Ustari snatched the ball from Olivas, just as he was about to finish off a cross from 'Piojo'. Four minutes later, 'Wacho' kept out a powerful line drive with both hands. At 67', 'Pollo' Briseño headed a corner kick, but the ball grazed the outside of the base of the left post. Alexis came within a whisker of scoring a spectacular goal, when he picked up a defensive rebound outside the box, shook off his marker and shot, but Ustari deflected the ball for a corner

At 71', the referee had to resort to the VAR to flag a very clear handball inside the area by Isais, for which he decreed the penalty, but Vega missed the chance, smashing his shot into the crossbar. Ustari was essential in the following two plays, when, at 74', he saved a shot from Alexis and, and at 78', keeping out a cross from Mozo. At 81', 'Wacho' denied Chávez with both fists. A minute later, Pável, 'Nene' and 'Piojo' triangulated and the latter tried his luck from the semicircle, but the ball went just over the goal. At 86', 'Wacho' came up big under the three posts to save a point-blank shot from Paulino de la Fuente. Guadalajara's next match will be this Wednesday against the Galaxy in Los Angeles, California, as part of the Leagues Cup Showcase 2022, and then they will visit Mazatlán FC in J7 of AP22.
