Mazatlán, Sinaloa - The saying goes that he who forgives loses, and that's exactly what happened to Guadalajara this Friday night against Mazatlán FC, they generated the most dangerous chances during the first half, they didn't capitalize on them, while the Cañoneros were more effective, and so el Rebaño ended up losing 2-1 at the Kraken Stadium, in their match on game day 7 of the Apertura 2022.

Knowing that they had to leave the Port with the three points, the team from Guadalajara went all out as soon as the match began. At 2', 'Chicote' surprised with a free kick with a low shot at the base of the right post that Vikonis managed to spit out, and then 'Chelo' came within inches of taking advantage of the rebound, but the back line cleared it off the line. At 8', Luis Olivas came within a whisker of opening the scoring after connecting a ball that was given to him on the edge of the six-yard box, but his attempt went just over. The Cañoneros answered through Benedetti at 30', when he cut inside and then fired a right-footed shot that 'Wacho' saved with his fingernails.

The locals tried to take advantage of the momentum to take the lead with a couple of attempts, but at minute 35, Olivas prevented Sosa from heading a cross into the heart of the area and in the following play, 'Wacho' denied Benedetti from a shot that was looking for the inside the left post. Five minutes later, Alan Mozo put in a cross into the heart of the area that 'Chelo' extended with his head so that the ball was left to 'Chicote', who cut back to his mark and pulled the trigger, but without goal direction.

At 50', 'Chelo' received the ball from behind and turned to shoot just wide of the goal. Seven minutes later, Vikonis prevented an own goal when he blocked the ball on the goal line after a poor back pass. At 64', Rubio set up the ball for Sánchez, who struck it first time inside the area, but sent it into the stands. The Cañoneros opened the scoring at 68' when Sánchez headed home Intriago's cross.

El Chiverío equalized at 73', when Pável Pérez received on the left flank, entered the area and, when he tried to slip between two defenders, was brought down, for which the referee decreed the penalty and, although the goalkeeper made a save at first, the ball was left alive and 'Chelo' Zaldívar sent it into the net. El Rebaño's joy was short-lived, as at 86', the Porteños retook the lead from a free kick by Alanís that clipped Mozo's back and left 'Wacho' with no chance to react. Guadalajara's next match will be none other than the Clásico Tapatío, to be played on Saturday, August 13 at the Akron Stadium.
