15/02/2023 14:20 / Javier Quezada

Guadalajara's youth teams split the difference with their Tijuana counterparts, as the U-20s drew 1-1 and the U-18s lost 1-2 on Wednesday at the Verde Valle facilities, on matchday 7 of the Clausura 2023. With these results, the Rebaño U-20 team extended its unbeaten run in the competition and maintained its super leadership for another week with 17 points, while the Chiverío U-18 team has not yet been able to take off in the championship and is in 16th place with 6 points.

Chivas U20
El Rebaño definitely deserved more in their match against the Xolos, however, they did not show the same aim as in other matches and had to work hard to get the equalizer on the hour. Special mention goes to Gael García who scored for the fifth consecutive match and for the moment is the leader of the individual scoring chart.

Goals
- The visitors opened the account in the last play of the first half through Jaime Álvarez, who was brought down inside the box and the referee decreed the penalty, which Álvarez himself made valid with a direct shot to the right corner, impossible to save despite the effort of Axel Leyva, who came up just short of deflecting the ball.

- El Rebaño equalized on the hour, after Matías Cendejas stole the ball at the rival's exit and was supported by Gael García, who received the ball with his back to goal, turned on his axis and, between two defenders, shot a right-footed cross from the edge of the box that went into the net at the base of the left post.

Chivas U18
Although Chivas had a good game in terms of volume of play and generation of goal scoring options, they lacked punch and thus in addition to a pair of defensive lapses, ended up losing 1-2 to Xolos this afternoon. In addition, the Caninos also took the extra point by winning in the penalty shootout.

The goals
- The visitors took the lead at 57', after 242 reached the back line and put in a cross that Octavio Vázquez headed home.

- The border team extended its lead at 62' through a penalty kick, which Vázquez made valid with a right-footed shot, his double of the match.

- El Rebaño avoided a shutout at 72' from a corner kick, which Diego Ochoa sent into the back of the net with a powerful header.
