Daniel Ríos is going through a good soccer moment, in the most recent dates of the Clausura 2023 he has been trusted to be Guadalajara's center forward. But, why is this date so important for the the Rebaño’s Number 9?
Well, on a Friday, February 24, but 8 years ago, the striker went through an emotional moment in his career, since he made his first presentation with the red and white shirt.
What was it like?
To relive this event, we have to go back to 2015, when Irapuato and Chivas faced each other at the Sergio León Chávez stadium, in a Copa MX match.
That night, the Rebaño defeated the Freseros 1-0 with a goal by 'Cubo' Torres in the final stretch of the match. However, in that match there were other events that also caught the attention of the Chiva Nation and one of them was the debut of Daniel Ríos with the First Team.
At that time, Ríos was 20 years old and wore the number 101, with which he came on as a substitute at 72' in place of Carlos Fierro.
The red-and-white striker did not have many opportunities to generate danger in his debut, but he left a good impression on the then Chivas coach, José Manuel de la Torre. As a curious aside, Ríos was the first Cantera player that 'Chepo' promoted to the First Team during his second stint as coach of the Rebaño, which speaks of the quality they saw in the striker.
