Soccer lesson and victory against Santos... These Chivas are serious!

04/03/2023 23:06 / Salvador Pacheco

Guadalajara gave a whole lesson on how to play soccer offensively and defensively, confirming for yet another week their rise in rhythm, play and competitive level, which led them to beat Santos Laguna 2-0 this Saturday night at the Akron Stadium, thus stringing together 4 wins, extending their undefeated streak to 7 and climbing to third place with 21 points.

Chivas was superior to the team from La Comarca 'A to Z’: their tactical discipline was impeccable in both phases of the game, they closed all the spaces and passing lines so that the rival was practically inoperative from three quarters of the field forward and once again they were effective, with another blackboard goal, details that confirm the evolution of the daily work they have had under Veljko Paunovic's command.

The goals:

- At 16' the Rebaño put the house in numbers with a real JEWEL of a blackboard: on a corner kick, 'Piojo' leaned on Beltrán, who returned it to him and with first intention sent a cross to the far post that found 'Pocho' alone and he placed his header glued to the post to beat Acevedo.

- At 45', Chivas increased the lead with a superb goal by Beltrán, who took a rebound from the defense outside the box and volleyed a howitzer, which Doria deflected slightly, to leave the goalkeeper with no chance and seal the 2-0 lead.

The danger:

- At 15', 'Nene' shot with great power from outside the area and the ball hit the right post.

- At 31', Mozo arrived on the right and sent a cross to the far post, where 'Pocho' won the ball over the top, the ball hit the crossbar, Ronaldo Cisneros counterattacked, but Acevedo rejected it at point-blank range and then the rebound hit Ronaldo's hand before sending the ball to the back, so the goal was disallowed.

- At 39', Víctor Guzmán took a free kick outside the area and the ball went very close to the right post.

- At 41', Mozo surprised with a mid-range shot that Acevedo managed to deflect with his fingernails.

- At 50', 'Oso' recovered a ball in the corner of the area on the left and from there shot at the angle, but Acevedo managed to deflect the shot.

- At 71', 'Charal' took a rebound from the defense on the edge of the area, took a first-time shot, but the ball went to the Lagunero goalkeeper's position and he was able to keep it out with two hands.
