Chivas beats Necaxa and takes over the super leadership of AP23

13/07/2023 11:48 / Salvador Pacheco

They had been warned. Veljko Paunovic had anticipated that the first objective of the semester would be to earn the 9 points that would be disputed before the break in Liga MX for the start of the Leagues Cup and this Thursday night Chivas gave an exhibition of dynamic and vertical soccer and complete the mission of beating Necaxa 2-0 at Akron Stadium, to string together a third victory and consolidate their position in first place in the Apertura 2023.

The #CanteraRojiblanca once again played a fundamental role in getting the result, Fernando Beltrán opened the scoring and Jesús Brígido came off the bench to put the final numbers on the board; in addition, 12 players from the Red and White Basic Forces participated in the match, something that has been habitual in the 'Pauno' era.

The goals:
- Chiverío's first warning ended up in the back of the visiting nets, after at 23' Isaac Brizuela pulled the mark and set up 'Nene' Beltrán on the right flank, who took advantage of all the space to get close to the area and then unleashed a cannon that entered the goal glued to the right post.

- Jesús Brígido, who had only been on the field for a couple of minutes, scored his first goal for the Rebaño at 84' in a great play by Pável Pérez who dribbled past two opponents on the end line, entered the area and put in a waist high cross that the famously nicked named 'Chen' connected to send into the back of the net.

The Ones that got away:
- At 47' Yael sent a pass into space on the left flank for 'Pocho' Guzmán, who sent a diagonal that 'Nene' finished on the run, but Gudiño deflected diving to his right.

- At 49', Beltrán sent a cross into the heart of the area, where Ricardo Marín was able to finish with a sweep, but the ball lacked the desired power and straight into the goalkeeper's hands.

- At 53', the Rayos knocked on the door, when Cristian Gómez's left-footed shot crashed into the right post of 'Wacho's goal.
