The Chivas JV 2023 Cup, one of the most important and popular tournaments for children's and youth soccer in the country, in which more than 260 teams from all over Mexico and the United States will participate, kicked off this Sunday at noon at the Akron Stadium.
With an extraordinary attendance at the Akron Stadium and a novel inauguration, the Thirtieth edition of this tournament began. The opening protocol was led by Javier Mier, Assistant Director of Institutional Soccer, who welcomed the participating teams, and Ignacio Vázquez, who was in charge of the inaugural declaration and the kick that symbolically kicked off the activities. Diego Ochoa, from the Tuzos Academia team, took the sports oath. To close the opening ceremony, a band and cheerleader show was presented.
What is so special about this competition?
- It is an open competition for any team that wants to sign up.
- Chivas scouts are present.
How many categories are there?
- There are 14 in total: from 2005 to 2016 as well as Femenil.
- For the second time there will be a club category, in which teams from Liga MX will participate: Toluca, Necaxa, Atlas, Mineros, Santos and Chivas.
Where will it be played?
- In 5 venues: Escuela Chivas Punto Sur, Soccer Life Bajío, Campos Maracaná, Colegio 11 México, and the club category will play at La Gigantera.
- The qualifying phase will be held on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3, the Grand Final of all categories will be played on Friday August 4.
