Chivas beats Bravos and... That's 4 and counting!

10/02/2024 19:37 / Roberto García

Guadalajara once again confirmed that they have the weapons to fight for everything this year, as they recorded their fourth win in all competitions with a 2-1 victory over FC Juárez this Saturday afternoon at the Akron Stadium, in a match corresponding to Matchday 6 of the Clausura 2024. The rojiblancos were the masters of the match, against a rival that stayed in their own field and did little offensively.

Chivas added their third consecutive win in Liga MX and moved into the fight for one of the top spots in the standings with 11 points.

Chiverío will have to turn the page, as this Tuesday night they will face the second leg of the First Round of the CONCACAF Champions Cup against Forge FC. Their next game in the local championship will be a visit to Mazatlán FC on Friday, February 16 at the Estadio El Encanto.

Goals

-The Akron exploded for the first time at 33', with a superb header by 'Pollo' Briseño, who broke free from a corner kick and was left alone in front of the goal to head the ball past Jurado.

-It was at 75' that Guadalajara's house erupted again, with a rebound inside the area that 'Pocho' Guzmán took advantage of to drill into the Juarez net, after a powerful header by Cade Cowell.

-In stoppage time, the referee signaled a penalty for the Greens, which Ángel Zaldívar converted at 98'.

Dangerous moments

-At minute 6, 'Nene' Beltrán gave the Rebaño's first warning with a long-range shot that went over the goal.

-At 24', 'Piojo' Alvarado took the initiative: he got away from three opponents at speed and took a shot that narrowly missed the Juarez goal.

-At 35', Pável Pérez had a chance in a great Guadalajara triangulation. The 'Double P' tried to put the icing on the cake with a first-time shot, but his impact wasn't the right one and went into the goalkeeper's hands.

-At 53', 'Pocho' Guzmán pulled the trigger at the entrance to the area, forcing the green goalkeeper to send the ball to the corner.

-At 54', Guadalajara scored again, in a combination from the left where Pável got to the back line and crossed low for 'Piojo', who came close to the second.

-Cowell's first goal at Guadalajara's home could have come at 63', when 'Piojo' left him one-on-one in front of Jurado; unfortunately, he was unable to avoid the goalkeeper's save.

-A minute later, 'Chiquete' Orozco dared to enter the rival area and almost scored a goal, beating the goalkeeper.

-At 72', Cowell showed his physical power at speed, escaping down the left and leaving 'Piojo' facing the goal, who could not make a correct reception and was unable to score.
