El Rebaño stumbles against León

09/03/2024 19:05 / Roberto García

Guadalajara failed to be effective against León and ended up losing 1-2 this Saturday night at the Akron Stadium, in the 11th match of the Clausura 2024, a result that kept the Red and White team with 15 points.

Chivas generated several scoring options, especially in the first half with 'Chicharito' Hernández as the focal point of the attack, although they lacked the precision to score.

Next week, the Rebaño will face El Clásico de México on two occasions, the first on Wednesday at the Estadio Azteca for the second leg of the Concacaf Champions League Round of 16, and then at home on March 16 for Matchday 12 of the Liga MX.

Goals

-The Emeralds opened the scoring at 33' from the penalty spot with a goal by Federico Viñas, which beat 'Tala' Rangel.

-In the 84th minute, León scored again through José Alvarado, who finished off an attempt from his teammate inside the box.

-Roberto Alvarado reduced the deficit for Guadalajara at 94' from the 11-yard line, deceiving the goalkeeper with a hip movement that sent him the wrong way.

Dangerous plays

-It didn't take long for the Rebaño's home fans to drown out the goal shout, as at minute 11, a tremendous diagonal into space by 'Chicharito' forced Rodolfo Cota to leave a rebound alive that 'Piojo' Alvarado sent into the empty net, but a previous offside had been flagged.

-At 14', 'Chicharito' could have scored his first goal in his new stage as a Rojiblanco when he combined with 'Piojo' to be left alone in the area and shot first-time, before the goalkeeper's save.

-Again 'Piojo' appeared at 22', this time from long distance with a powerful shot that the goalkeeper kept out.

-Once again, Chivas came close to the first when Alvarado burst the post when he appeared alone in the area after an exquisite service from 'Pocho' Guzmán at 47'.

-At 68', Ricardo Marín appeared to finish off a cross from 'Pollo' Briseño in the heart of the box. The very strong header bounced off a rival and ended up in Cota's hands.

-Now it was 'Nene' Beltrán, who, at 77', penetrated into the area and sent a shot-cross that looked for Ricardo Marín, but he was unable to connect with the ball.
