Guadalajara wins the Clasico Tapatio and qualifies directly to the Liguilla!

28/04/2024 00:16 / Roberto García

Guadalajara is in the Quarterfinals, ChivaBrothers! Tonight at their second home and in front of a completely Red-and-White crowd at the Jalisco Stadium, Chivas won the Clásico Tapatío 1-0 and secured their direct ticket to the Liguilla of the Clausura 2024 by reaching 31 points, which momentarily placed the Rebaño in fifth place in the overall standings.

There was only one team on the field, as Fernando Gago's men took the initiative against a Red-and-Black team that decided to retreat and bet on counterattacks, but came up against the Red-and-White wall that managed to keep a clean sheet for the sixth match in the tournament. Guadalajara closes the Regular Phase with 5 wins and will be ready for the do-or-die stage.

Chiverío's opponent will depend on the close of Matchday 17 and the results of the Play-In, which will be played next week.

The goals

-It took the usual ChivaHermanos to come up with a goal! Roberto Alvarado again, with his unique left foot, sent the ball into the net at 74' in a true mid-distance postcard before the useless flight of Camilo Vargas.

Dangerous ones

-THERE'S THE 'TALA'! Seconds into the match, the neighbor managed to sneak into the Rebaño's six-yard box, but Raúl Rangel did well to prevent the first goal of the match.
-At 21', Ricardo Marín thrilled the Chiva Nation that packed the Jalisco stadium by receiving with his back to goal at the entrance to the area, demanding Vargas' last-ditch effort with a half-volley that the Colombian was barely able to stop.
-WHAT DID YOU DO, 'PIOJO'! After Marín won a corner kick on the right, Roberto Alvarado surprised everyone with a left-footed shot that ended in an Olympic goal.
-Once again, the ChivaHermanos got out of their seats! Thanks to a good collective play by the Rebaño, Pável Pérez was free to try a long-range shot that went inches past the atlista's goalpost.
-The first Red and White goal had arrived at 45' from a set piece, with a good cross from Erick Gutiérrez that '4K' ended up pushing, but offside was signaled by the participation of Guadalajara's 15 jersey.
-'Chicharito' appeared inside the area at 63' with a great run, but his shot was blocked by the local defense.
