All of us who feel the Red, White, and Blue in the deepest part of our being have May 8 marked on the calendar and in our hearts. This is not just any day: it was the day when a passion that has reached millions of people around the world began, after a group of young enthusiasts, back in 1906, decided to found what more than a century later is the most popular and beloved team in Mexico.
Today we celebrate 118 years of Infinite Love for Club Deportivo Guadalajara, which during all this time has built a legacy of Fraternity, Union, and Sport, which extends to all generations that identify with the conviction that Mexicans can do it. We have shown it and we are sure that we will continue to do so.
It is impossible to look back without feeling proud of those beginnings as Club Union and its metamorphosis to Guadalajara; or how the legend of 'El Campeonísimo' was built, which gave us the first 8 league titles and was led by 'Chava' Reyes, Sabás Ponche, 'Jamaicón' Villegas, 'el Tubo' Gómez, 'Cura' Chaires and 'Tigre' Sepúlveda, just to mention a few.
Chivas is synonymous with greatness in every sense: as an institution, for its history, for its values, for its achievements, and for what it generates in society. Representing this shield is a great responsibility, as it carries the weight of 29 national and international professional titles between men's and women's, a figure that may grow this summer, as our First Teams are about to start the Liguilla and we all dream of lifting one more Liga MX trophy and one more Liga MX Women's trophy in three weeks.
We have built this greatness together: players on the field and fans in the stands. A winning legacy that has been passed from generation to generation by our great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren, in a love that is sheltered by the values of our institution: FRATERNITY, UNION, AND SPORT.
