It's now or never for Chivas, as they need to show their best version and win to guarantee their place in the next round of the Leagues Cup. However, their opponent will be no easy task, as they will face the LA Galaxy, who will be looking to stop the Rebaño at all costs.
This rivalry has a history behind it, as it won't be the first time they have met in an official competition, and here are some facts about the duels between the two teams.
This will be the third time that the two have met in an official competition and to date, the score has been extremely even. The first time was when the California side defeated Chiverío in the 1997 CONCACAF Champions Cup, while the Rojiblancos' victory came in the 2007 Superliga.
The match between Guadalajara and Los Angeles will be played at Dignity Health Sports Park, a very familiar venue for Chiverío, as they have played several matches there in recent years. In fact, in their last 5 visits to the Galaxy's home, Chivas won 4 times and only drew in 1. This streak began in 2014 when it was still called Stub Hub Center and beat Cruz Azul 2-1. Subsequently they lifted the Supercopa MX in 2016 against Veracruz, beat León in 2017 and 2019, and in their most recent visit they drew 2-2 with Toluca in 2023.
Currently, there are also Guadalajara players with a past at LA, such is the case of Leonardo Sepúlveda, Daniel Aguirre and Javier Hernández, who at different stages of their careers spent time with the Angelino team.
The Rojiblanco note...
- During their time in MLS, Chivas USA shared a home with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
