After the outstanding performances he has had with Guadalajara throughout 2024, José Castillo received a well-deserved call-up to the Mexican Under-23 National Team, which played two friendly games against Panama during the September FIFA Day break.
In both matches, Castillo had minutes and his participation was more than outstanding, as the Rebaño defender played minutes in both matches and even scored a couple of goals that were reflected in the final scores.
During the first match against the Panamanians, the Red-and-White defender was a starter and his impact was immediate, as in the 7th minute he was in charge of momentarily tying the score with a powerful left-footed shot, which contributed to the 4-1 victory in favor of El Tri.
During the second match, José came on in the second half to completely change the course of the game, since when the match was tied at 1-1, the Rojiblanco appeared in stoppage time to give the national team the victory with a shot in fixed tactics.
After concluding his fruitful participation with the Ricardo Cadena team, José Castillo is ready to return to training with Guadalajara in preparation for this Saturday's Clásico de México in the red and white capital.
