Chivas and Rayados will face each other this Saturday at the Akron Stadium, in what will be the 30th match on Guadalajara soil since the creation of the short tournaments, a record in which the Rebaño Sagrado has consolidated a clear dominance against La Pandilla and, with regard to the match on matchday 10 of the Apertura 2024, we will take a look at what has happened when they meet at the Chiverío's home.
In previous meetings, Guadalajara have scored points in 20 of 29 encounters, winning 14 times, drawing 6 and losing 9 times against Monterrey. Chivas has also scored 47 goals and conceded 38.
The duels between Chivas and Monterrey are a guarantee of spectacle. In fact, the duel with the most goals in the history of the rivalry also took place in the Pearl of the West, as in the 2008 Clausura quarter-final second leg, Chivas and Monterrey drew 4-4 at the Jalisco Stadium.
The first time that Monterrey visited Guadalajara in the history of short tournaments was in the Invierno 96 season. On October 12, 1996, they played the 12th matchday of that tournament and the Chiverío emerged victorious with a resounding 3-1 score, thanks to Gabriel García's brace and a goal by 'Gusano' Napoles.
Another curious fact is that it took Rayados more than seven years to beat Guadalajara for the first time on Jalisco's soil, as they did so on Matchday 16 of the 2003 Apertura, when the regios won 2-0 and sealed their first away win against the Rebaño in the history of short tournaments.
