October 26 is a special day for one of Guadalajara's legends, since on a day like today but in 1933, Crescencio Gutiérrez was born, who is better known as 'Mellone' and who marked an era in the Rebaño Sagrado, thanks to his goals and multiple championships to his credit.
His nickname 'Mellone' comes from his physical resemblance to Atilio Mellone, who was a Paraguayan footballer who played for El Oro de Jalisco and who had a great physical and footballing resemblance to the former Chiverío striker.
Throughout his career with Guadalajara, Gutiérrez always stood out for his nose for goal, which led him to become the goal-scoring champion of the 1956-1957 season. Speaking of the collective, the 'Mellone' won 5 league titles wearing the Rebaño Sagrado jersey. As if that wasn't enough, he was also part of the Rojiblanco team that won the 1962 CONCACAF Champions Cup. Thanks to his tremendous performance in the Chiverío jersey, 'Mellone' was called up to the Mexican National Team on several occasions.
To this day, Gutiérrez continues to attend various activities at Verde Valle, such as the Rojiblanca Fraternity Day, which was celebrated on October 12.
