With his starting appearance against Necaxa, in the match on matchday 2 of the Clausura 2025, Javier Hernández reached 100 official games with Chivas. Nineteen years after his debut in Liga MX and after playing in the best leagues in the world, 'Chicharito' reached 100 appearances with the team of his love.
It all began in 2006; on that rainy September night at the Jalisco Stadium, Javier Hernández Balcázar's name was heard for the first time, as he did best: scoring goals. Since then, 'Chicharito' has played 75 Liga MX matches, 7 Liguilla matches, 8 Copa Libertadores matches, 3 Interliga matches, 3 Concacaf Champions Cup matches, 2 Copa Sudamericana matches and 2 Superliga matches.
For this reason, we review the most iconic moments of CH14 in his first 100 matches in official competitions with Chivas.
Goal-scoring debut
September 9, 2006 will remain in the memory of Javier and all Chivahermanos. At the Jalisco Stadium, against Necaxa and with the score 3-0 for the Rebaño, 'Chepo' De la Torre decided to give him his first minutes in the First Division by substituting him for Omar Bravo. With 3 minutes to go, 'Chicharito' responded with a great cutback and a better definition inside the area to debut as Guadalajara's striker. As if that were not enough, Javier was crowned champion with that unforgettable team.
2010 Bicentennial Goal Scoring Championship
In that year, 'Chicharito' scored multiple goals and performed well with Chiverío, both in the League and in the Libertadores Cup, to the extent that he was crowned individual goal-scoring champion of the 2010 Bicentenary Tournament, a distinction he achieved despite playing 6 games less than the rest of the strikers in that competition. In fact, he was the Mexican with the most goals scored in the AP09-CL10 season, with 21 goals.
Double in the Clasico Tapatio
The match that divided the Perla Tapatía in the Apertura 2009 was played and, as usual, it was painted in red and white. Omar Bravo opened the account after 13 seconds and a few moments later 'Chicharito' appeared to put the second on the scoreboard. Before the end of the first half, Hernández appeared again at 40' to seal the anecdotal 4-1 scoreline.
Double in Libertadores
On February 25, 2009, Guadalajara defeated Everton Viña del Mar 6-2, thanks to goals from Amaury Ponce, Ramón Morales, Alberto Medina, Marco Fabián and Javier Hernández Balcázar's brace in the final stretch of the match.
Farewell and the long-awaited return
At the grand opening of the Akron Stadium on July 30, 2010, and to celebrate the recent announcement of his transfer to Manchester United in 2010, 'Chicharito' scored the first goal in the history of the new home of Chivas, in that match in which the Rebaño beat the Red Devils 3-2.
14 years later, 45 thousand Chivahermanos who packed the Fortaleza Rojiblanca welcomed him back home. Amid chants, emotional tears and an event that lived up to his career, Javier Hernández once again donned the Rojiblanca 14, which will forever be linked to his memory.
