The day Jair García made a permanent place in Chivas history.

01/03/2025 12:09 / Club Deportivo Guadalajara

This Saturday, March 1, is the perfect time to remember something that happened a few years ago and that marked Jair García forever in the history of Club Guadalajara. On a day like today, but 22 years ago, the Rojiblanco striker scored Chivas' 3,000th goal in the national championship. Undoubtedly, that Saturday afternoon made us vibrate like never before, so let's remember it.

It was on March 1, 2003, when Guadalajara visited the Mariano Matamoros Stadium to face the Colibríes, on Day 8 of that year's Clausura tournament. That match ended in a 1-1 draw, with dangerous chances for both sides, although what would steal the people's attention was a particular moment, starring Jair García Gamboa.

The Morelos team opened the scoring quickly, as at minute 6, Mario Grana scored a goal with a right-footed cross that was unthreatening for Oswaldo Sánchez. However, the 25th minute was a memorable one, when Emilio Mora slipped a pass to the chest of the forward born in the Perla Tapatía, who controlled the ball in an extraordinary way and with a spectacular scissor kick, equalized the score, at the same time as scoring the 3,000th goal of the Rebaño Sagrado in the Mexican League.

After this important milestone, Jair García was undeniably immortalized in Guadalajara's history, as such an important goal is no small feat. The striker joined the Rebaño Sagrado in 2000 and wore the red and white jersey until 2003.
