Chivas has the second half of the Clausura 2025 and the final rounds of the CONCACAF Champions Cup ahead of it, so Gerardo Espinoza will need to surround himself with highly qualified people to face both competitions. Below, we present the technical staff that will accompany the Sinaloa-born coach in this mission.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANTS
- Héctor Altamirano: 'Pity' is 47 years old and has a lot of experience on the bench, having coached Querétaro, Correcaminos, Cafetaleros and Celaya in Mexico, while in Costa Rica he was in charge of Herediano and served as assistant coach of that country's National Team. Today, he will put his experience and skill at the service of the Rebaño Sagrado as one of Gerardo's assistants.
- José Canales: He was Gerardo's assistant during his time at El Tapatío, in which they won two titles. Subsequently, Canales went to the Tri U-23 team as an assistant and at the end of that cycle he joined Gerardo Espinoza's working group at Aucas in Ecuador. He is a man Espinoza trusts and his support will be invaluable in this process.
- José Meléndez: 'Pepe' will remain in the First Team Technical Staff. Like Espinoza, Meléndez has extensive knowledge of the young players in the Rojiblanca youth academy thanks to his work with the Under-23s and the Tapatío.
- Hugo Hernández: The former Rebaño Sagrado goalkeeper has been in charge of training the team's goalkeepers for several tournaments. Elements of the Cantera Rojiblanca, such as Raúl Rangel and Eduardo García, have grown under his supervision.
- Eric Secada: Eric will be Guadalajara's physical trainer. He has also been part of the process alongside Gerardo Espinoza, as he accompanied him in the Tri U-23 team and in Aucas of Ecuador.
