May 8 is a historic day for Mexican soccer, because on a day like today, but in 1906, Club Deportivo Guadalajara was founded, which in addition to being a historic national soccer team, over the years has become a social phenomenon that goes beyond our borders. As part of the celebrations for the 119th anniversary of Mexico's most popular and beloved team, we take a look back at 119 facts and moments that remind us how special it is to be part of the Rojiblanca Nation.
1. Without a doubt, the moment that marked a before and after in the Chivas Legacy was their first title, after they overcame Irapuato to lift the trophy in the 1956-57 season and thus leave behind the era of 'ya merito'.
2. The 1958-59 season had another important moment in store for Chiverío, who began to forge the legend of the only true 'Campeonísimo' of Mexican soccer after being crowned against Atlante.
3. In 1959-60, under the guidance of Arpad Fékete, Chivas won its third league championship after defeating Necaxa.
4. Chiverío's fourth star was in the 60-61 season, after defeating Toluca 3-2 and winning the trophy.
5. The 61-62 season sealed Guadalajara's greatness, when they were crowned against the Diablos, becoming the first four-time champion in the history of Mexican soccer.
6. In 1962, the Rojiblancos also won their first international championship. On that occasion, Chivas won the CONCACAF Champions Cup after defeating Comunicaciones of Guatemala 6-0 on aggregate.
7. There are 7 Champions Cups that the Rebaño Sagrado has collected throughout its history.
8. Their second Concachampions title came 7 years ago, as in 2018 Guadalajara experienced a heart-stopping series against Toronto FC, but won the trophy after winning in a penalty shootout at the Akron Stadium.
9. Chivas' first goal in Liga MX was scored by Pablo González, in a duel that ended 4-1 against Atlante on October 21, 1943.
10. The 100th goal was scored by Manuel López in April 1945, in the Rebaño's match against Moctezuma.
11. If we continue talking about significant goals, we must remember the 500th, which was scored by Tomás Balcázar against Marte, in November 1952.
12. The 1000th goal was scored by Javier Barba, who became part of the Club's history in November 1963, when he scored against Irapuato.
13. The 2000th was by none other than 'Yayo' de la Torre, who scored against Zacatepec in September 1984.
14. While we are at this point, we must remember that in April 2010, it became official that Javier Hernández was transferred from Guadalajara to Manchester United.
15. In June 2020, Chivas Femenil sealed a historic moment, as it made its first transfer to European soccer. Rubí Soto, a Chivas youth team player, emigrated to Villarreal in Spain.
16. Returning to historical goals, the 3000th was scored by Jaír García in March 2003, against the extinct Colibríes.
17. The 4000th goal was recently scored by Ricardo Marín, who in October 2023 scored against the Diablos and put his name in the history of the Rebaño.
18. How could we forget the beginnings of Chivas Femenil, which in the 2017 Apertura played its first tournament in the pink circuit and managed to win the championship after defeating Pachuca 3-2.
19. In fact, the first goal in the history of Guadalajara in Liga MX Femenil was scored by Anette Vázquez, who opened the scoring in the Clásico Tapatío in J1 of AP17.
20. The Rojiblancas' second cup came in the Clausura 2022 and, curiously, it was also against the Tuzas.

22. June 12, 2020 is an unforgettable day for Alicia Cervantes and the fans of Guadalajara Femenil, as on that day the 'Depredadora' fulfilled her dream of joining the club of her love.
23. 12 days later, Carolina Jaramillo also joined the Rebaño Femenil to consummate a historic transfer window for the Chiverío.
24. It was obvious that when we reached this number, we would talk about 'Licha', who surpassed the 100-goal mark with the Guadalajara shirt in J14 of AP23, when she scored against León.
25. Cervantes also scored a perfect hat-trick in CL21, scoring 1 right-footed, 1 left-footed and 1 header against León.
26. The inaugural match at the Akron Stadium was played on July 30, 2010. That night, Guadalajara beat Manchester United 3-2.
27. Just a few weeks later, the AKRON Stadium hosted the first leg of the Copa Libertadores Final against Internacional de Porto Alegre, which was the first official match at the Rojiblanca Fortress.
28. The AKRON also witnessed an unforgettable moment for Omar Bravo, who in J15 of the AP15 against Monarcas scored a double to reach 123 goals with Chivas, making him the top scorer in the club's history, breaking the record set by 'Chava' Reyes.
29. While we're on the subject of the Rebaño's beautiful stadium, we must remember the Copa MX title that Guadalajara lifted against Monarcas in CL17.
30. Weeks later, the Rebaño Sagrado defeated Tigres in the Liga MX Final and achieved its twelfth star, in addition to winning the historic Clausura 2017 double.
31. On June 2, 2005, a very memorable moment for the entire Chiva Nation took place, as the Jalisco Stadium witnessed the 4-0 defeat of Boca Juniors.
32. Another magical afternoon for the Rebaño took place at Toluca's Nemesio Diez stadium in 2006, when Guadalajara were crowned League champions thanks to goals from 'Maza' Rodríguez and 'Bofo' Bautista.
33. On January 19, 2008, Guadalajara paid a well-deserved tribute to Don 'Chava' Reyes, who was registered with the League and was part of the starting 11 that took the field in J1 of CL08 against Pumas.
34. One of the main pillars of the Rebaño is its youth academy. For this reason, the Tapatío was founded in 1973.
35. The Rebaño's Filial disappeared for some years and was re-founded in 2020.
36. Since its return to the Liga de Expansión MX, Tapatío has won 2 League titles and 1 Champion of Champions.
37. In fact, all his titles have been won against historic Mexican soccer teams, as he defeated Atlético Morelia, Atlante and Celaya.
38. If we talk about moments that went down in history, we have to talk about the '97 Summer Final, in which Chivas overcame Toros Neza with a score of 6-1.
39. In that final, 'Gusano' Nápoles scored 4 goals.
40. In 2010, Guadalajara hosted U. de Chile in the Copa Libertadores Semifinals at the Azteca Stadium.
41. In the CL03 playoff against Cruz Azul, Ramón Morales dislocated his right elbow and asked to play with his arm bandaged for the rest of the match, as there were no more changes, thus leaving an iconic image in the history of the Rebaño.
42. Returning to Chivas Femenil, we must remember what Alicia Cervantes did against Santos in CL24, when the Rebaño's #24 scored 6 goals in a single match, a feat that no other player has achieved in the pink circuit.
43. In fact, that day also went down in history because Guadalajara Femenil scored their biggest goal ever, defeating Las Laguneras 10-2.
44. The Apertura 2023 marked a before and after for Liga MX Femenil midfielders, as Carolina Jaramillo set a record that would be hard to beat by registering 17 assists.
45. May 17, 2015 is a day to be remembered by the Chiva Nation, as that afternoon Guadalajara eliminated Atlas in the Quarterfinals of the CL15 with an unforgettable 4-1 win.
46. That afternoon, Marco Fabián dressed up as a hero and, in less than 40 minutes, scored a spectacular hat-trick.
47. Another epic afternoon for the Chiverío was that of the CL06 Quarter-Finals, when Guadalajara sealed a heroic comeback against Jaguares de Chiapas with a lethal header by Johnny García in stoppage time, which gave rise to the Centennial Miracle.
48. On Matchday 7 of CL24, Chivas Femenil reached 150 wins in Liga MX. With this, they became the third team to do so.
49. In CL22, the Rojiblancas set a record that is practically impossible to surpass in Liga MX Femenil, as they only conceded 6 goals in the 17 matches of the Regular Phase.
50. On matchday 9 of CL24, the Rebaño Femenil defeated Necaxa 4-0 and Dana Sandoval went down in history, scoring the team's 500th goal.
51. On November 3, 2024, the Rebaño reached 500 points in Liga MX Femenil.
52. That same night against Santos, Adriana Iturbide scored her first hat-trick in a Guadalajara shirt.
53. February 17, 2001 is another of those days that are counted apart, as Omar Bravo made his debut with Guadalajara in the First Division, in the J8 of the 2001 Summer.
54. We continue with the presentations in the maximum circuit and it is our turn to talk about Javier Hernández, who played his first minutes as a professional with Chiverío on September 9, 2006.
55. That night against Necaxa, 'Chicharito' not only made his debut in society, but also made his debut as a Rojiblanco striker.
56. Alicia Cervantes recently scored 15 goals in El Clásico de México, making her the top scorer in this rivalry.

63. Chivas' fastest goal at the Akron Stadium was scored by Fernando Beltrán, who scored a goal 17 seconds into the match against Toluca in CL24.
64. However, Guadalajara's fastest goal on any field belongs to Omar Bravo, who scored against Atlas in AP09 with only 14 seconds on the clock.
65. Curiously, the player from Sinaloa also has the second fastest goal to his credit, when he scored against Atlante in AP10 with just 16 seconds on the clock.
66. On January 10, 2024, Hugo Camberos became the youngest player to make his debut in the history of the Expansion League, as he did so at the age of 16.
67. If there are important goals to talk about, we have to go back to May 28, 2017, when Alan Pulido scored a great goal in the second leg of the CL23 final, volleying it in after a great pass from Alanís.
68. That same day, José Juan Vázquez scored the title-winning goal from the edge of the area, with a shot that beat the feline goalkeeper.
69. In the match against Veracruz in J19 of AP19, the Akron Stadium witnessed one of the most impressive moments in Mexican soccer, as goalkeeper 'Toño' Rodríguez scored a goal from goal to goal.
70. Alicia Cervantes has 2 scoring titles to her credit: Apertura 2021 and Clausura 2022.
71. In the 2010 Bicentennial, Chivas won 8 consecutive games in Liga MX, setting a record that has endured over the years.
72. At the time, Chivas Femenil also had an impressive streak, as in the Clausura 2022 they went 19 games without losing. Subsequently, they were crowned champions of the pink circuit.

74. The first goal scored by a Mexican team in an international women's competition was scored by Alicia Cervantes, who scored against the Washington Spirit in the 2024 Summer Cup, a competition that pitted the best women's teams from Mexico and the United States against each other.
75. The first victory by a Mexican women's team in an international tournament also belongs to Guadalajara, when it defeated the Chicago Red Stars 1-0 in the 2024 Summer Cup.

Perhaps you didn't remember that Guadalajara holds a Guinness Record for the longest match in history, which was played on the now defunct Anacleto Macías "Tolán" field of the former Club Guadalajara on the corner of López Mateos and Colomos. The match lasted 100 hours and 40 minutes and the final score was 438-343.
81. This activity was part of the events organized by the Board of Directors to bid farewell to those facilities of Club Guadalajara and for the First Team to move to Verde Valle.
82. On August 3, 2011, Guadalajara defeated Barcelona 4-1 in a friendly match played in Miami.
83. On June 12, 2024, Chivas Femenil hosted Barcelona at the AKRON Stadium. The final score of the 'Duelo de Campeonas' was 1-4 in favor of the then Champions League Champions.
84. On October 26, 2021, there was another international visit to the Fortaleza Rojiblanca, as the Argentina National Team played against Chivas Femenil in a friendly match, which ended 1-2 in favor of the South Americans.
85. The 'Campeonísimo' Guadalajara was the first Mexican club to tour Europe, as it did so in 1964, after winning its sixth league title.

87. The first victory of a Mexican club in Europe was Chivas against Lille on May 9, 1964.
88. In J1 of AP04, Ramón Morales scored an Olympic goal against Atlante at the Jalisco Stadium.
89. As a prelude to its 125th anniversary celebrations, Athletic Club organized the Árbol de Gernika Trophy with an equally unique team, the Chivas Rayadas del Guadalajara, a centennial club that only plays with Mexicans in its ranks.
90. Although they lost 2-0 in their visit to San Mamés, El Rebaño won the Árbol de Gernika by winning the second match by the same score and then winning the penalty shootout, when Athletic paid for the second leg at the AKRON Stadium.

In that distant 2017 Apertura, the goalkeeper from Sinaloa left the Azteca Stadium on her shoulders, being the team's star player during the second leg of the Semifinal (Chivas later became champions of the pink circuit).
100. Adolfo 'Bofo' Bautista was immortalized in the history of Chivas when he wore the mythical number 100.

113. Juan Pablo Alfaro is the winningest coach in the brief history of the Rebaño Femenil, with 2 official titles (1 League and 1 Champion of Champions).
114. Alan Pulido, Omar Bravo and Javier Hernández are the last scoring champions of Guadalajara.
115. The AKRON Stadium, which will host the World Cup in 2026, has hosted the finals of the Copa Libertadores, Pan American Games, Copa MX, Liga MX, Liga MX Femenil, CONCACAF Champions League, U-17 World Cup matches and friendly matches of the Mexican National Team.
116. Alicia Cervantes is the top scorer in the history of Chivas Femenil. She reached 142 official goals after scoring a brace against América in the CL25 Semifinals.
117. Carlos Vela, Omar Esparza, Sergio Arias, Patricio Araujo, José Tostado, Giovanni Casillas, Carlos Fierro, Luis Solorio, are the Guadalajara youth players who were crowned champions of the Under-17 World Cup, either in 2005 or 2011.
