One of the key elements in Guadalajara's resurgence in the 2025 Apertura has been Armando González. The Rojiblanco youth player has brought freshness and mobility to the attack, as well as displaying a remarkable eye for goal, with his six goals earning Chivas 13 points.
After a remarkable spell in the youth ranks, where he even won the individual scoring title in the 2023 Apertura with the Under-23s, 'La Hormiga' made his first-team debut on matchday 1 of the 2024 Clausura. In just over a year, the striker has established himself as one of the strong cards in the offense, scoring 10 goals in official competitions with the team he loves.
The current semester has brought Armando's explosion, as his appearances have directly translated into points for Guadalajara, since every time he gets on the scoreboard, the Rebaño adds to its tally. His double against Atlético San Luis gave the team its first three points of the tournament, then he began the epic comeback against Xolos in Tijuana, later sealing the victory in El Clásico de México, then leading the way to victory against Necaxa, and last weekend scoring the first goal in the victory against UNAM.
With his six goals so far in AP25, 'La Hormiga' is tied for fourth place in the Liga MX individual scoring table and is the only U-23 player in the race. In fact, he is the only Mexican alongside Ángel Sepúlveda in the top five, both with the same number of goals.
As if that weren't enough, González has the virtue of being equally effective when starting as a starter or coming on as a substitute, as his intensity in pressing and his tireless running to cover specific areas of the attack make him a versatile tool for Gabriel Milito in different game scenarios.
