On the morning of Tuesday, November 18, the Mexican Under-17 team lost 5-0 to Portugal in a match that became complicated from the opening minutes, following a penalty against them and, later, a red card that left the national team a man down before halftime.
Despite the circumstances, the Mexican team fought until the end, trying different combinations up front and showing improvement on the field at certain points in the match. However, the Portuguese team's numerical superiority ultimately tipped the score in their favor. Jhonnatan Grajales was once again a starter and wore the captain's armband for the entire 90 minutes, while Gael García was not called up for this match.
With this result, the U-17 national team concludes its participation in the 2025 World Cup in Qatar, and the Rojiblancos will return to Guadalajara.
