Club Deportivo Guadalajara announces that Javier Hernández Balcázar is ending his second stint as a player for Chivas.
The bond between ‘Chicharito’ and the club he loves—the one that shaped him and helped him become a legend of our football—will last forever.
Javier is, without a doubt, one of the biggest icons in Mexican soccer. With El Rebaño, he won the Liga MX title in the 2006 Apertura and the Golden Boot in the Bicentenario 2010, before beginning an international career that took him to succeed with some of Europe’s most important clubs.
With 52 goals, his name is forever etched as the all-time leading scorer of the Mexican National Team, with which he played in three World Cups. Along the way, his goals brought joy and inspired an entire generation.
When he returned home, ‘Chicharito’ brought all his experience and became a guiding figure for several of the team’s younger players, including Armando González, the current Liga MX top scorer.
The club is grateful for his commitment and passion throughout nearly two years of this second chapter as a Rojiblanco, and we know that he’ll continue supporting the institution and showing the deep love he feels for our colors whenever he has the chance.
Javier, we wish you all the success in whatever path you take from here on.
