Guadalajara have officially wrapped up their preseason friendlies ahead of the Clausura 2026, as on Sunday afternoon the team led by Gabriel Milito defeated Leones Negros 3-1 in a match that proved highly beneficial for the red-and-white coach, who was able to test different tactical setups and give minutes to several young players.
The opening 45 minutes were not easy for the Rebaño Sagrado, as they conceded an early goal that disrupted Gabriel Milito’s initial game plan. However, the red-and-white side did not abandon possession and looked to remain the protagonists, stringing together solid passing sequences through the middle and attacking the final third with Hugo Camberos and Leonardo Jiménez, who operated as wingbacks.
Guadalajara’s persistence paid off in the 37th minute, when Ricardo Marín scored the equalizer with a left-footed finish after converting a well-placed low cross from Miguel Gómez. Early in the second half, the Rebaño took the lead thanks to a goal from Sergio Aguayo, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to score the second of the afternoon.
Chivas extended their lead in the 62nd minute, when Yael Padilla finished across goal after an outstanding pass from ‘4K’, which left a moving penalty for the Tonalá native. In the final stages of the match, the Argentine manager was able to give minutes to the vast majority of his players; in fact, throughout the entire second half he deployed a different setup, featuring a back line of four defenders.
After completing their slate of friendly matches, the Rebaño will train all week at Verde Valle, aiming to be in peak form for their Clausura 2026 debut, which will take place next Saturday, January 10, against Pachuca.
