True to his style and with a very aggressive approach, Guadalajara opened the Clausura 2026 with a valuable 2–0 victory over a tough opponent in Pachuca. The Rebaño Sagrado delivered a strong performance and clearly outplayed their rivals, leaving Gabriel Milito with positive feelings and solid foundations heading into the next two matches on the schedule.
After the Matchday 1 clash, Chivas’ head coach spoke at the post-match press conference, where he highlighted his team’s performance and explained that they will look to raise the team’s ceiling ahead of the upcoming double matchday, in which they will face Bravos de Juárez and Querétaro.
Gabriel Milito’s words after the win against Pachuca
- “I have good feelings. The first match after preseason is always a bit difficult, but the team looked good. In the first half we showed composure on the ball, we were dynamic and we were able to make the difference. In the second half we didn’t create the same chances, but we also didn’t give the opponent any opportunities to pull one back. I’m very happy with the performance.”
-“We will strengthen the squad with players of quality and experience. I’m very pleased with the roster we have; we will need each and every one of them throughout the tournament.”
-“Little by little we will manage to sustain our level of play over the full 90 minutes. That is something that is built match by match.”
-“To control matches, it’s necessary to have technically gifted players—and we have them within the squad.”
-“The squad we’ve put together has a good mix of experienced players and young ones, who will need to continue gaining experience to give us everything we expect from them.”
-“We are a team that understands what needs to be done to achieve good results, and I trust the young players a lot. I will contribute to their growth and give them minutes when they earn them, because they can perform very well and make a difference.”
-“We think in the short term and are focused on one match at a time.”
-“With the players we have, we can handle any scenario in the event of an absence. I have complete confidence in every one of them.”
-“We will try to maintain the team identity that was already on display last tournament, but now we need to back it up with results.”
