Chivas conquer San Luis and stay on fire!

31/01/2026 19:05 / Roberto García

With composure, authority, and quality football, Chivas clearly outplayed Atlético San Luis to earn a 2–3 victory on Saturday night at Estadio Libertad Financiera, in Matchday 4 of the Clausura 2026. As things stand, there is no team in better form than Gabriel Milito’s side, who once again confirmed themselves as league leaders by maintaining a perfect record: 12 points out of a possible 12.

El Rebaño Sagrado made their intentions clear right from kickoff, pressing high and moving the ball quickly to find spaces in San Luis’ defensive setup. That approach paid off in the opening third of the match; and although the hosts responded quickly, Chivas managed to regain the lead before halftime.

While the ‘Atleti’ found the equalizer in the very first play of the second half, the Chiverío showed their ability to respond once again, retaking the lead on the scoreboard and managing the game on their own terms as the minutes ticked by.

Guadalajara will be on the road again in J5, as they visit Mazatlán at Estadio El Kraken next Friday, February 6, at 9:06 PM (CT).

The goals

What a goal by Ledezma! In the 31st minute, the Mexican international opened the scoring after a perfect backheel inside the box from ‘Piojo’ Alvarado, firing past the San Luis goalkeeper despite a desperate hand.

The hosts equalized in the 34th minute from the penalty spot, converted by Joao Pedro.

‘Dani’ Aguirre danced through! At 45+3’, the No. 23 in red and white finished off the play after Luis Romo headed the ball back across goal from a corner kick.

The San Luis side tied it again on the first play of the second half, with another close-range finish by Joao Pedro.

- Immediate response from Guadalajara! In the 49th minute, the league’s reigning top scorer made his mark: Armando González followed the ‘Cotorro’s run and simply tapped it in at the far post.

Key chances

- Chivas knocked on the door in the 2nd minute after a turnover in the attacking third that put ‘Hormiga’ through on goal, but the flag was raised for offside.

- So close for Chivas! In the 8th minute, a dangerous cross from Richard Ledezma found ‘Cotorro’ at the far post; he managed a shot, but the goalkeeper’s reaction cleared it off the line.

- In the 25th minute, Guadalajara combined at the edge of the box between Armando González and Efraín Álvarez, setting up Brian Gutiérrez for a volley that narrowly missed the post.

- At 37’, ‘Efra’ slipped Armando in one-on-one inside the area, but his finish was denied by the goalkeeper; the rebound fell kindly, yet the top scorer’s second effort was also saved.

- From a set play, Brian Gutiérrez unleashed a long-range strike in the 45th minute, forcing Sánchez to punch the ball away.

- Moments later, Gutiérrez again found space at the top of the box and tested the keeper once more.

- At 63’, Álvarez broke into the area and hit a first-time shot that struck the side netting.
