After being crowned top scorer of Apertura 2025, Armando González continues to showcase his sharp goal-scoring instincts. Last night at Estadio AKRON, he secured the Rojiblanco victory in El Clásico de México—something that is gradually becoming a habit for the Cantera Rojiblanca product, who is beginning to make his mark in Chivas’ most important rivalries.
Since the start of the 2025–2026 season, “La Hormiga” has scored five goals against Guadalajara’s two fiercest rivals. In three appearances against América and Atlas, González has found the scoresheet every single time. This not only reflects his individual work as El Rebaño Sagrado’s attacking reference, but also the collective understanding under Gabriel Milito to benefit and maximize Armando’s strengths.
In the first Clásico de México of this football year, González sealed a 1-2 victory over Las Águilas at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, finishing off a devastating counterattack in the dying moments with a low left-footed strike that was impossible for Luis Malagón to stop. This Saturday at the “Home of Mexicans,” he once again appeared at the far post on a corner kick, instinctively detecting the near-post flick like a true predator to score his fifth goal of CL26.
