The Cantera Rojiblanca had plenty of action this weekend on Matchdays 8 and 9 of Apertura 2026, facing Atlas and Pumas, respectively. Here’s a look at how the matches unfolded for our young players.
It’s worth noting that Guadalajara’s U-17 side will face the city’s biggest rival in the Clásico Tapatío this Wednesday, September 16.
Men’s U-21
The young players from Guadalajara battled Pumas in an intense Matchday 8 clash that ended in a scoreless draw. Luis Arce’s squad took the initiative and controlled possession for stretches of the match. Despite creating chances and combining well in the attacking third, they were unable to break the deadlock. In the penalty shootout, Rebaño earned the extra point with Robinho Romero playing the hero after saving two penalties.
With those two points, Chivas moved to 12 points and currently sit seventh in the standings, with their Matchday 2 game still to be played.
Men’s U-15
Guadalajara played the Clásico Tapatío against Atlas on Matchday 9, falling 2-1. The Rojiblanco side had to battle from behind from the opening minutes after the hosts took the lead in the 10th minute. However, the team responded and found the equalizer in the 70th minute through Roberto Benítez, who now has five goals in AP26.
Atlas regained the lead a few minutes later. Despite the Rebaño’s efforts to rescue a draw until the final whistle, there was not enough time to change the score.
Despite the defeat, Guadalajara remain near the top of Group 2 with 16 points.
Women’s U-19
Chivas Femenil U-19 faced a difficult trip against Atlas and ultimately fell 2-0 on Matchday 9. Cecilia Cabrera’s squad started with plenty of intensity, but the hosts took control with goals in the 19th and 38th minutes. After halftime, the Rojiblancas looked to respond and create danger, but they could not find a way to cut into the deficit.
Despite the setback, the team remains the outright leader of Group B with 19 points.
Men’s U-19
Alberto Ascencio’s squad endured a difficult morning on Matchday 8 against Pumas, with the Rojiblancos falling 2-0 at Verde Valle. The Rebaño Sagrado had to battle from behind early after conceding goals in the 11th and 39th minutes. Facing the deficit, the Tapatíos tried to work their way back into the match and created a few opportunities, but were unable to finish them.
With this result and one game still pending, Guadalajara have 12 points and sit ninth in the overall standings.
