Amaury Vergara has shaped his tenure at Club Deportivo Guadalajara around a clear vision: to innovate and compete in every area that is part of a great institution like the Rebaño.
Today, on his 39th birthday, we join in the celebration. With that in mind, we take a look at some of the pillars Amaury Vergara has promoted during his tenure to strengthen Guadalajara both on and off the pitch.
Chivas TV, the First Step Toward Innovation
One of the projects that made history for Guadalajara, and for Mexican football, was Chivas TV. Amaury led the development and launch of a platform that was ready in just 42 days. Launched in 2016 under the vision of Don Jorge Vergara (R.I.P.), the platform broke away from traditional broadcasting models and opened a new path for the club to create its own content and build a closer connection with its supporters.
Agreement With Prime Video
Eight years later, that early bet on streaming entered a new phase with Chivas’ arrival on Prime Video. In 2024, Guadalajara and Amazon reached an agreement to broadcast the Rebaño’s home matches for four years. For Amaury, the partnership reaffirmed the path that began with Chivas TV and his vision of finding new ways to connect with the Chivahermanos.
A Home Ready to Welcome the World
Amaury’s vision understands that what happens on the pitch is of paramount importance; naturally, the Rebaño’s home had to live up to that standard as well. During his tenure, Estadio AKRON underwent a transformation to meet the requirements of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and provide an unforgettable experience for its fans, with improvements to the pitch, technology, connectivity, security, accessibility, and hospitality.
In doing so, Amaury Vergara was able to fulfill one of his father, Don Jorge Vergara (R.I.P.),’s greatest dreams: bringing a World Cup to Chivas’ home. This year, the venue hosted four group-stage matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
A Sporting Project With a Rojiblanco Identity
That vision also had to be reflected on the pitch. Under Amaury Vergara’s leadership, the sporting project now headed by Gabriel Milito took shape, with a strengthened squad and a commitment to combining experience with talent developed through the Cantera Rojiblanca.
One of the project’s most significant achievements came in Clausura 2026, when Chivas reached 36 points during the regular season, the highest total in the club’s history in short-format tournaments.
And that is precisely where all the pieces come together.
Because competing on every pitch, as Amaury Vergara has envisioned, means much more than simply chasing a result every weekend. It also means innovating to get closer to the fans, finding new ways to bring the team to them, transforming its home, and, of course, building a sporting structure capable of competing and playing a leading role in the national tournament.
It is all part of the same idea: to win on every pitch, Chivas has to compete on every one of them.
Nación Rojiblanca wishes you a very happy birthday, Amaury! And many successes at the helm of Guadalajara.
