With intelligence and composure, El Rebaño Sagrado secured another three points in the Apertura 2026 thanks to their victory over Rayados at Estadio Monterrey. It was a hard-fought battle between two strong sides, but Chivas knew how to get the job done with their playing style, securing second place in the standings.
Gabriel Milito emphasized this point when he addressed the media following the match. He also highlighted the importance of building on this result in their upcoming fixtures, with the goal of reaching the playoffs in the best possible form.
Gabriel Milito’s words at the press conference
“The feeling is positive because we won at this stadium against a great team like Monterrey. We had to play a very intelligent match because our opponent presses very well.”
“I really liked the team’s defensive performance and the organization we showed to neutralize a team with so much talent. That is why I place so much value on today’s victory.”
“The win was deserved because we had several chances to extend the lead in the second half. I’m satisfied with the performance the team put in.”
“We pressed as we usually do, and that led to the goal. We combined our pressing very well with knowing when to wait, win the ball back, and attack.”
“We were missing the final finish, but we created some very good chances. I liked the collective effort and the fighting spirit we showed throughout the match.”
“Keeping an opponent of this caliber from creating chances against you is not easy, so I congratulate our players.”
“The most important thing for us is what comes next, the immediate challenge. In this case, it’s Atlante at home. We have to keep collecting points during this final stretch; there is no room for error. That’s all I care about.”
“Beyond the victory, I’m happy that Omar Govea was able to return and that ‘Cotorro’ started the match. Hopefully, we can get some of the players who are still unavailable back this week, because that will be key.”
“There are certain values that this team has already embraced, values that I consider essential, and now we can look to improve wherever possible.”
“Football is about taking it one match at a time. First, I want to finish the regular season strongly, and from there, try to do it again, as we have in the previous two tournaments.”
“This victory gives us confidence. The team knows how it plays, and nobody will make us doubt that. We know where we stand, but we are very strong internally, and we have to remain that way.”
