Defeating Atlante did more than keep Guadalajara in the race for the top spot in the regular-season standings, where they are tied on 29 points with América and Cruz Azul. The victory also secured El Rebaño Sagrado’s ticket to the Liguilla of the Apertura 2026.
This will be Chivas’ third consecutive appearance in the Fiesta Grande under Gabriel Milito, who maintains a perfect record in this regard: three Liguilla qualifications out of three possible opportunities as the team’s head coach.
With eight wins, five draws, and just two defeats, the Guadalajara side still has two regular-season matches remaining in AP26, and will be aiming to finish at the top of the overall standings. They will face León this Sunday, November 8, at Estadio Nou Camp, where they could secure home-field advantage for the Liguilla. Then, on Sunday, November 22, they will host Cruz Azul at Estadio AKRON.
Guadalajara will have to wait until the end of the regular season to determine its final position in the standings and find out its opponent in the AP26 Quarterfinals.
