Was completely everything bad during the Pelaez era?

11/10/2022 18:45 / Javier Quezada

After three years at the helm of Guadalajara's Sports Directorate, Ricardo Peláez spoke to media representatives for the last time to share the final numbers of his tenure and bid farewell to the Rojiblanca Nation, acknowledging that he was far from fulfilling his promise to lead Chivas to fight for titles, but grateful for the opportunity to strengthen other areas of the team that may have gone unnoticed.

"Today is my last day at Chivas and I accept it. The position of Sporting Director of the club is vacant, but I do not want to leave without saying goodbye to the fans. I leave with regret for not having fulfilled what I promised on the day of my presentation. I failed in the attempt, but I'm not afraid of that word".

"I leave in peace because I have really put all my dedication and effort into this project, I gave body and soul, I was honest and loyal to my principles. I gave it my all."

During the Pelaez era, El Guadalajara broke a streak of 5 tournaments without qualifying for the Liguilla, they reached 5 Final Phases in this period, with the Guard1anes 2020 Semifinal being the best result. In addition, Peláez Linares took over the team in 15th place in the quotient with 1.116 and will leave it in eighth place with 1.421.

Similarly, there are several items that have improved significantly since his arrival, since from the Clausura 2020 to the Apertura 2022, the team was the third overall with the fewest defeats and in that same period, el Rebaño was the fifth club with the fewest goals allowed, although it was unable to amend the long-standing problem of being a club that lacks goals.

Under Ricardo's mandate, the #CanteraRojiblanca took off again as the building block of the First Team, when he arrived the percentage of players who made it to the first squad was 55 percent, while currently 70 percent of the registered players were trained in the Fuerzas Básicas of Chivas.

Special mention should be made of the fact that after two World Cups without Guadalajara contributing a single player to the Mexican National Team, Alexis Vega, Roberto Alvarado and Fernando Beltrán have half a foot in the final squad for Qatar 2022.

While it is true that Chivas was far from achieving its main objective, which is to be Champion, the numbers left by Ricardo Peláez show a step forward in the stability of the club, for which we reiterate our gratitude and wish him the greatest success in his future projects.
