Guadalajara closed its preparation to receive Cibao FC this Wednesday night at the Akron Stadium, in the second leg of the First Round of the CONCACAF Champions League 2025. Both Óscar García and Yael Padilla, who spoke to the media prior to the match, shared their confidence in what they have been working on for the second game against the Dominican team and are aware of the obligation to win the tie in order to advance to the next round of the continental competition.
Quotes from Óscar García:
"We are Chivas and what we want is to win every game. We put ourselves under pressure because we know what we represent, we know the club we are at, regardless of the opponent.
"Logically if we don't get through the playoffs it would be a disappointment, so we're going to try to win and I'm sure the players are going to give their all to make it happen."
"The first half against Tijuana, along with some moments against Tigres and Santos is where the team got closer or is starting to get closer to what to what I want, it's the path we want to follow."
"Playing every 2 days you have to procure your players, I understand that there are people who want to know the lineup or who wonder why the same lineup is not repeated, but I have a squad of many players with a similar level and I have more information than anyone else to decide who is in the best moment to start and which players are for a second half."
"The Cibao match is different because it is a playoff, but we are at home where I hope that the fans will come to help us, that they will come to support us because we are much stronger when we have a lot of people at the Akron, who support us to put much more pressure on the rival. You could say that we play with one more player thanks to them".
Yael Padilla's quotes:
"I want to always continue to do my bit, I have to leave everything on the field and help the group as much as I can."
"At the end of the day we are a team and I always want to contribute. Being in a very big club means that all eyes are always on us and for us it's a nice challenge, even though the pressure will always be there because, as I said, Chivas is a very big club".
"It has been my turn to play and that boosts your confidence, they have been giving me minutes and I always try to make the most of them and give the best of myself."
"We have to go out focused from minute 1, I think that's what failed us there (in the Dominican Republic), but now we'll be at home and we have to make ourselves strong here with our fans, I'm sure we'll do well together."
